Whoever said that going to somewhere fancy and paying more than $100 for the meal always meant fantastic food? A small place mostly for take out pasta only costed $10 per plate!

Tobermory
This is perhaps one of the most beautiful places I have been to in Ontario. It literally took my breath away, and I can't wait to go back already! We did stop way too often in the beginning taking pictures of everything...literally. Of course, we didn't know we should be saving our batteries for the good stuff.

Whittamore Farm
Welcome to Whittamore Farm! It is definitely a small little farm that grows tonnes of different fruits and vegetables. Although when I'm posting this, strawberry season is over...it's good to reminisce on some hot summer days while the temperature has definitely gotten a lot cooler.
What's great about Whittamore is they don't charge you an entrance fee. Strawberries are weighted at the end of your adventure and CASH or DEBIT only. We did pick one of the last weekends to go therefore most of the strawberries were really small.

Hamilton-Webster's Falls
Back tracking to some of the most beautiful areas South-West of Toronto. This is where I called home for 4 years and not once have I tried to explore. Now that I am not in school anymore, I finally decide to go back to see some places with my friends for the long weekend.
It was a super hot day, so we didn't actually get to make our way around the other falls. This hike was relatively easy, but if you are with the elderly, this might not be suitable for them.

Birthdays: Hapa Izakaya
This is a belated post of my friend's birthday dinner! We went to Hapa Izakaya (as they also offered a Summerlicious menu). I have learned that ordering from this "special" menus of most restaurants, I usually walk out disappointed. I did also order off of the regular menu to make sure that I get a good taste of the restaurant.
Service wasn't the best, I would have to say. Our server was very hesitant to fulfill our requests. However, we were a group of 14/15 people that the poor girl had to serve alone. For whatever reason she received no help. We did leave the restaurant about 2.5 hours or so later. The food took very, very long to come which is why it prolonged our stay.

New York City
From June 27-July 1, we went to New York City. Instead of posting some food pictures here are a couple of the busiest parts of NYC. Bright lights, massive crowds, a concrete jungle that definitely never sleeps. These are a few of my favourite (non-food) shots.

A Movie Experience: Jurassic World VIP 3D
This is something a little bit different than my regular food posts! Anyways, on the weekend I watched Jurassic World at the new VIP theatre in Markham. The seats were very large and very spaced out and there was a lot of space in front for extra leg room.
The VIP experience is only for 19+ (minimum age), I'm guessing because it has alcohol. You have the opportunity to order food when the trailer starts - but don't forget your scene card for an extra 10% off of food. I ordered a Sweet Escape, which was to die for, and would come back for it time and time again!

Pastel Dessert
I had a dinner date with one of my friends that night. Girls being girls, we really wanted something sweet to end the night. The latte art trend caught onto us so we ordered some latte. The matcha green tea and cafe latte were both delicious at Pastel.

Kabuki Sushi Lounge
A newly opened restaurant in the Shops at Don Mills area is hidden in one of the corners. I have very high expectations when it comes to enjoying food in this upscale area. Most of the restaurants at Shops really do not disappoint, especially if you are looking for a first date idea.

Long Weekend Brunch: Mildred's Temple
One of my dear friends is going to be going to Saskatchewan to work there permanently. I am using every opportunity I get to spend time with her before she moves - what a great excuse to use to have brunch with her! The line-up was horrendously long, totaling up to 45 minutes for the wait. Although I believe we only waited for 40 minutes, it was not that unbearable because they text you when your table is ready. We took that opportunity to walk around Liberty Village. But since it was a holiday, most things were closed.

High Park: Cherry Blossoms
A little different than my usual posts of food porn. Scared of the thunderstorm warning that was set out by the Weather Network, we decided to go to High Park to see the flowers in the evening. It was very gloomy, which washed out a lot of the colours from the flowers. There were tonnes of people celebrating mother's day or just looking at the flowers, but luckily not crowded enough not to take some good shots.
Most of the trees were pretty tall. Short people problems. Nonetheless the rainy sunset in the background really accentuates the cherry blossoms.

EDO Restaurants
I had the pleasure of experiencing EDO Restaurant with their Groupon menu. It was least to say, pretty unexpected. I came into the restaurant without any expectations to avoid disappointment. The reviews on Yelp and Google was not very high at all, I on the other hand felt differently. Parking is a hassle though, so be warned that you will not be able to find parking on a busy Friday or Saturday night.

Birthdays: Inspire Restaurant
I actually came here on 2 separate occasions but both were to celebrate a birthday - one was mine and the other a friend's. The first time I came here, I wasn't quite too impressed with the food. But 10 points for food presentation! The ambiance is quite industrial like, it was as if they tried to reinvent a warehouse feel. The decor for the most part were not matching (hanging lights) and was a quite romantic setting.

Winterlicious: Coppi Ristorante
This post is a little bit long over-due. We visited Coppi for Winterlicious and to my surprise, it was quite pleasant. Usually for Winterlicious/Summerlicious events the menu is very appealing, but the food does not match up to what they normally serve. So to my surprise, everything was pretty delicious.

Hong Kong: Tim Ho Wan
Next stop (not really) Tim Ho Wan! As mentioned previously, we went to a dim sum place but was disappointed that Tim Ho Wan was not at Mong Kok. So we tried again, and went to a different location. I definitely was looking forward to this because it is considered to be the cheapest Michelin Star restaurant you can find.
Nothing too special about the interior of the restaurant. It is just like any other restaurant that you can find in Toronto or Hong Kong. It did have a very roomy feel to it though but that doesn't mean you wouldn't be eating beside a table of strangers. I guess that's just the culture of Hong Kong.
Tim Ho Wan is spread throughout Hong Kong and there are many locations that can be found. We went to the one near Tin Hau Station (I can't tell you exactly where it was because I was guided). Regardless, we were pretty hungry even though it was early and ordered a tonne of food between the 4 of us.
At first, the fish dish that came does not look appetizing at all. But here we are, something that blew my mind away. It was simply delicious! This is the plain old BBQ pork bun but revamped. It had a crispy shell and the same filling that it normally has on the inside.
There is a the lotus sticky rice, chicken feet and rice rolls. I wasn't a big fan of those, especially the chicken feet because I find anything messy to eat unappealing. The sticky rice was very average (sort of comparable to Fung Shing Restaurant). The rice rolls, I don't remember much about it...so it must have not been that impressive.
The siu mai though, this siu mai...it was pretty good! It is a bit bigger than your average size but for whatever reason it tastes a lot better too! There wasn't anything too special about the ingredients (at least not from my taste bud or through my naked eye) but for some reason they put something in there that I thought tasted pretty awesome! Overall, I'd rate this restaurant a 3.5/5 for the atmosphere and food quality. I loved how it wasn't super packed and you are not elbowing the next person trying to consume your food, but I do feel that some of the food can be a bit more special.

Hong Kong: Fung Shing Restaurant
This restaurant was actually an unplanned adventure in Hong Kong. The one we were originally going to go to was actually Tim Ho Wan in Mong Kok (I will have a post on it later). Since the Mong Kok location was actually closed, no thanks to GoogleMaps, we decided to look for something else. As they say, most of the restaurants are on a higher level floor due to the high rent on ground level.
For someone who doesn't have a very clear understanding of how the roads in Hong Kong work, it could be confusing to get to. There were actually 2 floors that this restaurant occupies. We weren't sure which one we should be going to so went to the 3rd floor like the people who was in the elevator with us. If you are unsure as to where to go, just follow!
